El caso de Honduras no parece tener solución en el campo internacional. Los Estados Unidos, con el falso argumento de que no quiere intervenir en los asuntos interno de ese país, se rehúsan a tomar medidas drásticas contra el gobierno de facto, mientras que hay acusaciones de que hubo participación de militares y diplomáticos estadounidenses en el golpe de estado y, recientemente, congresistas Republicanos viajaron a Tegucigalpa a ofrecer apoyo a los golpistas. Recordemos que el Presidente Clinton aplicó un enfoque semejante en Haití hace varios años y todos sabemos de las consecuencias negativas del mismo para dicho país.
Es tiempo de aplicar presión al Presidente Obama, a fin de que cumpla su promesa de defender la democracia en la región latinoamericana. Apoyemos la marcha nacional a favor de Honduras, que ha sido convocada para el 28 de agosto por un gran número de organizaciones en solidaridad con el Pueblo de Honduras, incluida la nuestra, la Red por la Paz y el Desarrollo de Guatemala (RPDG).

4. Retorno inmediato a la institucionalidad y la restitución del Presidente Constitucional José Manuel Zelaya
5. No a cualquier proceso electoral como producto de un régimen de facto
6. Alto a la militarización en Honduras y salida de las bases estadounidenses

Dear Colleagues,
The case of Honduras is in limbo internationally. The United States, under the specious argument that it does not want to intervene in internal affairs of that country, refuses to take strong action against the de facto government, while there are allegations of U.S. military and diplomatic involvement in the coup, and recently Republican Congressmen went to Tegucigalpa to offer support to the golpistas. We may remember that President Clinton took a similar approach in Haiti some years ago, and we all know the way that country has been negatively impacted.
It is time to bring pressure on President Obama, so that he makes good his promise to defend democracy in the Latin American region. Let us support the national march for Honduras, convened for August 28th by a large number of organizations in solidarity with the people of Honduras, including ours, the Guatemala Peace and Development Network (GPDN).

1. To stop killings & repression against the Honduran people
2. To halt human rights violations in Honduras
3. To support the non-violent resistance of the Honduran People and the National Front for Resistance Against the Coup d’état
4. To immediately return to Constitutional rule and to restore Constitutional President José Manuel Zelaya
5. To reject any electoral process as a product of the de facto regime
6. To reject militarization and U.S. military bases in Honduras
