The constant threats made against the president of the Teachers Union of Middle School Education of Honduras (COPEMH), Jaime Rodriguez, establish that the teacher's life is in imminent danger of death.
On March 24, 2010, he began receiving threatening text messages on his cell phone, just a day after the murder of Professor Manuel Flores that took place in the San Jose de El Pedregal High School of Comayagüela.
On March 24, 2010, he began receiving threatening text messages on his cell phone, just a day after the murder of Professor Manuel Flores that took place in the San Jose de El Pedregal High School of Comayagüela.
The message said ... .. "You're next, dog ....".This happened approximately at 1:00 pm on March 24th. Afterwards, I received four text messages, two of these repeated, "said the teacher in testimony given to the Committee of Relatives of Detained and Disappeared in Honduras (COFADEH).
"Another text more or less said that my children would end up begging on the street. I received all these messages on the same day and they were continous". I showed one of the messages to Professor Saul Sanchez, who works at the National Pedagogical University Francisco Morazán (UPNFM), I gave them no importance, so I deleted them from my cell phone, "he said.
On Wednesday April 21 around 11:30 am, Professor Rodriguez again received a text messages saying .... "Your days are numbered, fifth class leader(dirigentito) ..." Afterwards, a few minutes later, I received another text message expressing "Look motherfucker, take the opportunity to make your final trashings on the board because we are going to have to break you(kill you). You're fucked, dog ...."
Rodriguez said he has no personal enemies and the threats come from the role played by the COPEMHN in the People's National Resistance Front.
On the other hand, defensoresenlinea.com received the complaint made by teacher Alexis Vallecillos, who produces and directs the COPEMH radio program that airs Sundays on Radio Globo.
Professor Vallecillos which has interim protection measures dictated by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) reported strangers roam around his home and that he has been persecuted by so-called police who drive a motorcycle.
After the coup d'etat carried out on 28 June against former President Manuel Zelaya Rosales, repression against Honduran teachers escalated. Consecuently, several teachers have been violently killed, amongst them: Roger Abraham Vallejo Soriano, Martin Barrientos, Félix Orlando Murillo López , Rubén Estrada, Mario Fidel Contreras Moncada , Sergio Eliseo Juárez Hernández, Blas López ,José Manuel Flores Arguijo.
The killings of teachers have been considered by several leaders of teachers as political crimes, as the leading power that teachers have had in the People's National Resistance Front (FNRP) from where the coup has been condemned, has demanded the return to constitutional order and the installation of a national constituent assembly to draft a new constitution.
