by voselsoberano.com Thursday March 18, 2010 10:52

Esly Banegas, Coordinator of Popular Organizations in Bajo Aguan, reported this morning to Radio Progreso, that in Carbonal, Bonito Oriental, two members of the cooperative Brisas de Cohdefor were killed yesterday. After working their fields peasants Jose Antonio Cardoza and Jose Concepcion Carias were killed ambushed by gunfire.

Jose Antonio Cardoza and Jose Concepcion Carias both 50 years-old were killed at noon yesterday by unidentified individuals who opened fire with shotguns as they drove home after finishing their day's work growing beans in Carbonal community, Bonito Oriental in the department of Colon.

The two farmers were leaders of the Associative Company Brisas de Cohdefor , who have been receiving death threats from an alleged land owner, Carlos Diaz, who is represented by a legal representative, said officials of the National Agrarian Institute ( INA) in Tocoa, Colon, on Friday 12 March. In the INA they were recommended to inform the Public Prosecutor's Office.

About 25 families occupy and inhabit in the past 4 years about 60 acres that were once property of the Honduran Forest Development Corporation (COHDEFOR).

In the context of the agrarian conflict in the Aguan, landlords in the area have intensified repression, threats and intimidation against rural families occupying land in dispute, two new victims added to the list of murders.

New political assassinations in Aguán

Militants from the Popular National Resistance Front (FNRP) in Honduras during the past hours denounced the killings of two farmworkers, Ramon Castellanos and Miguel Ulises Sauceda, residents in El Naranjo, in the department of Atlantida. These two victims of a political crackdown led by the regime run by Pepe Lobo were abducted since the previous day to their murder.
Due to the tense situation caused by the large landowners, with the support of the coup leaders, who are occupying the land violently, the land, which Manuel Zelaya released and gave the farmers to work them and make them productive-since they remained unproductive in order to speculate on the ground and with political purposes- a wave of violent repression against the peasants is taking place.
The Front has claimed this while Pepe Lobo convenes a committee for dialogue with the farmers and at the same time "Lobo gave the signal and its death squads proceeded to murder Ulysses Castellanos and Miguel Ramon Sauceda" as expressed by militants of FNRP.
Human rights organizations like the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in Honduras (CODEH) and the Committee of the Detained and Disappeared in Honduras (COFADEH) have noted that there are obvious links on the right-wing dictatorship led by Lobo with paramilitaries.
